A commercial vehicle and its driver were ordered off the road due to multiple violations detected during a traffic stop on I-10 in Arizona.
Early in the morning on August 7, 2026, an officer with the Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) Highway Patrol, assigned to the Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Unit, pulled over a semi-truck carrying a large steel beam on I-10 near Tempe.
The officer observed that the vehicle had an “obvious violation regarding window tinting” and that, in addition, it appeared to have fewer straps than required for the steel beam, which measured more than 60 feet in length.
During the traffic stop, the officer observed that there were only three straps securing the load, meaning that “the load was missing several additional straps to meet the length requirement.”
In addition, “the rear of the load extended 11 feet backward and was missing the two required red flashing lights at the rear of the beam, as the truck was traveling before dawn,” the AZDPS noted.
The officer also discovered that the truck driver was not wearing the required corrective eyewear.
Both the truck driver and the vehicle were ordered off the road.
“Ensuring that cargo is properly secured, that required lighting is in place, and that license restrictions are followed protects all users of our roads. If you’re transporting oversized or protruding cargo, make sure your vehicle meets all safety and equipment requirements before hitting the road,” the AZDPS noted.
