A small trucking company is back on the road after an incorrect “inactive” designation by the FMCSA prevented them from working for almost two months.
Lisa Hall with Savoy Transportation in Houston, Texas told the small company’s story to KHOU11, which was published on the internet just yesterday, September 22nd. Hall detailed her discovery of the incorrect “inactive” designation by the FMCSA, apparently triggered by a glitch in the transition to the new Motus system.
“I only heard about it because brokers were saying they couldn’t give us loads because we weren’t active, and I’m like, what’s MOTUS, [sic]” Hall said. “[FMCSA] just [said] that it was a computer glitch. It’s a known issue and that they’re working on it.”
Hall explained that the FMCSA had acknowledged the error, but had still not taken any action to fix it after two months and more than 20 attempts to contact them. Now, less than a full day since the company’s story was published, Savoy Transportation once again has an operating status of “active,” meaning they are ready to get back on the road.
Savoy can now accept loads once again, and plans to get its one truck and driver back on the road this week.
The FMCSA had still not responded to requests for comment as of Wednesday morning, September 23rd.
