An illegal immigrant truck driver was arrested by Immigration and Customs Enforcement last week after his illegal turn caused an injury crash involving a child.
Guatemalan national Maximo Garcia-Lopez was involved in a crash and arrested by ICE on September 18th in Marlborough, Massachusetts.
According to ICE Boston, Garcia-Lopez made an illegal turn in his tractor trailer and caused a crash with a car. A child inside of that car was injured and taken to the hospital for treatment. The extent of the child’s injuries is not clear.
During investigation of the accident, it was discovered that Garcia-Lopez did not possess a CDL, or any driver’s license at all. ICE says that Garcia-Lopez was previously cited in Connecticut for driving a semi truck with no CDL just two weeks prior on September 4th.
CMV inspectors also discovered 31 violations on his rig at the scene of the accident. Garcia-Lopez was driving for YMY Transport out of Colonial Heights, Virginia at the time of the wreck. He has been arrested by ICE.
