A truck driver hauling triple trailers was arrested on Thursday morning after crashing through a median in Oregon.
The accident happened on September 24th on Interstate 84 near Arlington, Oregon.
According ElkHorn News, 32-year-old Edwin Alexander Gomez was hauling triple trailers east on I-84 when he cashed through the center median. The rig then crashed into a passenger car driven by 51-year-old Pratapa Reddy Koppula, sending the car rolling over the guardrail. All three trailers and the tractor overturned as a result of the crash.
Gomez and Koppula sustained minor injuries in the crash. A passenger in the semi truck, 26-year-old Ashleigh Darlene Krupkat, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries.
After he was medically cleared, Gomez was arrested and booked on charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, recklessly endangering another person, and fourth-degree assault.
Traffic backups lingered for around eight hours as crews worked to clear the trailers and wreckage, remove hazardous material, and repair the median.
