Diesel theft: Man arrested for stealing $2,000 from trucking company

    Published:

A man was arrested after taking more than $2,000 worth of diesel from a local trucking company’s private refueling station in upstate New York.

66-year-old Erwin Schober was charged with fourth degree grand larceny by the St. Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office near Potsdam, New York on Sunday, September 27th.

According to 7 News, Schnober stole $2,124 worth of diesel from an unnamed trucking company by accessing their private fueling station four times in April and May of this year. Schnober pumped the fuel into his own vehicle and into a tank in the bed of his truck.

It is unclear how Schnober gained access to the fueling station. Police have declined to name the trucking company in the incident.

Schnober was arrested and released the same day. He is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.
