A drunk driver was hospitalized earlier this month after attempting to squeeze through the gap between two semi-trucks on an Oregon highway.
The incident occurred at 1:42 a.m. on Friday, August 7, on westbound Interstate 84, near mile marker 276, west of Union, Oregon.
According to ElkHorn Media, police responded to the scene after Andrew Reobert Menges, a 29-year-old driver, attempted to squeeze between two tractor-trailers on a two-lane stretch of I-84. Menges collided with both semi-trucks during his attempt to “thread the needle,” causing his car to skid before coming to a stop in the median. Both semi-trucks were damaged in the incident and pulled over to the right shoulder.
Menges was taken to a hospital, where he received medical treatment and was later released. Police arrested him shortly afterward on charges of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs (DUII), reckless driving, and three counts of recklessly endangering others.
Neither of the truck drivers nor either of the co-drivers was injured in the accident. All vehicles were eventually towed from the scene. No further information has been provided.
