A NASCAR driver en route to Daytona International Speedway was injured in a crash involving a semi-truck.
On Wednesday afternoon, 24-year-old NASCAR driver Chris Hacker was driving through South Carolina en route to Daytona, Florida, when he was involved in an accident with a semi-truck.
According to a statement released by Hacker’s representatives, “a semi-truck crossed the center line and collided head-on with Chris’s Mustang.”
Hacker was airlifted by helicopter to a hospital in Columbia, South Carolina.
Hacker reportedly suffered multiple injuries but is in stable condition and is expected to make a full recovery.
“Chris is in good spirits, and his family has flown to South Carolina to be with him. He will remain in the hospital while he recovers, but hopes to return home in the coming weeks. He appreciates everyone’s support and prayers and hopes to recover soon and return to the track,” the statement reads.

Hacker’s representatives have not provided detailed information about the location of the accident or whether the truck driver was injured.
Following a drunk-driving incident that led to a suspension from NASCAR last year, Hacker stated earlier this week that he had been sober for six months.
