Recidivist sentenced to 30 years after high-speed semi-truck pursuit

    Published:

A man was sentenced to 30 years in prison this week after evading police in Texas earlier this year.

52-year-old Donny Dewane Adams pleaded guilty to evading arrest and property theft between $30,000 and $150,000 in Gun Barrel City, Texas on April 4th.

According to CBS19, Gun Barrel City police officers were called to a Burger King on West Main Street to investigate a stolen semi truck. Officers found the truck behind the business still running and found Adams inside the cab. Adams refused to exit the truck, so officers removed the keys, but the truck was hot-wired so Adams was able to drive away.

Adams then led police on a chase across 20 miles before he was eventually stopped and arrested. Adams was already on parole for evading arrest at the time of the chase.

Adams has an extensive criminal history, including theft convictions and an assault conviction.
