Hundreds of traffic tickets were issued as part of a commercial vehicle enforcement operation on the Taconic State Parkway this week.
On September 30 and October 1, 2026, the New York State Police (NYSP) conducted a detail targeting commercial vehicle violations on the Taconic State Parkway in Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess and Columbia counties.
Troopers conducted 19 commercial vehicle inspections and as a result uncovered 63 Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) violations. Four vehicles and five drivers were placed out-of-service.
The operation resulted in the issuance of 376 traffic tickets, including:
- 198 tickets for violations of Parkway Rules and Regulations prohibiting certain restricted vehicle types from operating within the parkway system
- 78 tickets for violations of Parkway Rules and Regulations prohibiting vehicles displaying painted or affixed signs, names, or insignia from operating on the parkway system
- 100 tickets for other violations of the New York State Vehicle and Traffic Law
NYSP has held multiple commercial vehicle enforcement operations on the Taconic State Parkway in recent months.
Troopers issued a reminder that commercial vehicles, including tractor-trailers, vehicles displaying commercial signage, and vehicles towing trailers, are prohibited from operating on the following parkways in New York State:
