The Krugerville Police Department (KPD) arrested a truck driver and fined the vehicle’s owner for multiple violations detected during a traffic stop triggered by the driver passing a school bus while children were boarding.
The incident began when a semi-truck passed a school bus with its red flashing lights on and its stop sign extended, while children were boarding the bus in Krugerville, Texas.
The KPD proceeded to pull the vehicle over and discovered that the truck driver “did not have a valid driver’s license and was wanted on charges related to driving under the influence.”
The truck driver was fined for the school bus violation and arrested pursuant to the arrest warrant.
When the truck owner arrived at the scene, police discovered that he held only a learner’s permit for commercial vehicles and was therefore not authorized to drive or retrieve the truck on his own.
The Knoxville Police Department (KPD) fined the truck owner for “hiring and allowing an unlicensed driver to operate a commercial vehicle, a violation that carries significant legal and safety implications.”
The semi-truck was impounded.
“This incident highlights the critical importance of having the proper permits, complying with school bus safety laws, and driving commercial vehicles responsibly—especially when children’s safety is at risk,” stated the Kansas City Police Department.
