The California Highway Patrol (CHP) arrested a man who stole two vehicles including a loaded semi truck in the San Andres area this week.
At 9:10 a.m. on September 21, 2026, a suspect stole a fully loaded semi truck, and then crashed it into a guardrail near the 13 Curves on Highway 49.
After hitting the guardrail, the suspect fled down a dirt road, “where the stolen big rig nearly struck a residence before becoming disabled.”
The suspect fled from the disabled truck and stole another vehicle.
After this, the suspect led a CHP on a short pursuit before he was arrested by CHP Amador County officers.
Troopers did not release the identity of the suspect.
The Calaveras County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation.
“Thanks to excellent witness statements from the community, the two incidents were able to be linked together,” CHP said. “Great work by everyone involved in bringing this incident to a safe conclusion.”
