Drugs worth $5 million seized during Arkansas I-40 vehicle stops

    Published:

The Arkansas Highway Police (AHP) made “two significant drug busts” during recent commercial vehicle traffic stops along I-40.

On September 24, AHP detailed two recent drug seizures that occurred along I-40 with assistance from police canine units.

Credit for the first drug seizure went to K9 Mack, who alerted to the presence of illegal substances during a commercial vehicle traffic stop. A search of the vehicle uncovered 254 kilos of cocaine and 2 kilos of methamphetamine.

The cocaine is valued at approximately $5.1 million and the methamphetamine is valued at approximately $22,000.

In a separate incident, K9 Drake alerted to the presence of drugs during a commercial vehicle traffic stop. Officers searched the vehicle and uncovered “11 pounds of marijuana, 1 gram of methamphetamine, 4.2 ounces of mushrooms, and a stolen UTV.”

AHP said that the marijuana is valued at approximately $33,000, and the methamphetamine is valued at approximately $100.
