Arizona troopers ordered a commercial truck hauling a mobile home off the road after uncovering “multiple serious safety violations.”
On September 24, 2026, Arizona Department of Public Safety (AZDPS) Highway Patrol State troopers with the Commercial Motor Vehicle Enforcement Unit performed a traffic stop on an oversized commercial load on AZ-202 in the Tempe area.
The truck was traveling from Phoenix to Payson.
AZDPS said that it was raining during the morning rush hour when the traffic stop took place.

During the traffic stop, troopers discovered that “none of the trailer’s rear lights were functioning as passenger vehicles passed on both sides of the load.”
The oversized mobile home load was also missing two red flags on the front, two amber flashing lights on the widest front corners, and two red flashing lights on both rear sides.
AZDPS troopers also learned that the rear escort pilot car driver “was aware that the trailer lights were not working between I-10 and the 202 but failed to notify the CMV driver over the CB radio.”
The escort driver was also found to be operating with a suspended license, officials said.
“In addition, the oversize permit listed an inaccurate width and was revoked,” AZDPS said in a social media post.
Troopers issued an out-of-service order and notified the Arizona Department of Transportation permit office.
“Unsafe equipment, inaccurate permits, and unqualified drivers put everyone on the road at risk – especially during heavy traffic and poor weather. Troopers will continue enforcing oversize load requirements to keep Arizona roads safe for all,” AZDPS said.
