    Drugs worth $1.4 million seized during Texas commercial vehicle inspection

    A commercial vehicle driver and passenger were arrested after hundreds of pounds of drugs were seized by law enforcement in Webb County, Texas.

    At 7 a.m. on September 22, 2026, officers with the Texas Department of Public Safety (TXDPS) responded to a request for assistance from U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at the Laredo Port of Entry.

    Officials say that a commercial vehicle inspection at the facility uncovered  26 pounds of methamphetamine, 18 pounds of heroin, 15 pounds of eutylone, and 94 pounds of fentanyl.

    The estimated value of the 153 pounds of seized drugs is $1.4 million.

    TXDPS Special Agents arrested commercial vehicle driver Ernesto Jaime, 53, of Wisconsin, and the passenger, Enrique Ramirez Valle, 51, of Oklahoma.

    Both men were booked into the Webb County Jail on charges of felony possession of a controlled substance.

    The drug seizure was part of a joint operation with federal authorities.
