An Indiana State Police trooper arrested the driver of a semi-truck for several drug-related offenses after pulling him over for speeding and dangerous lane changes.
At approximately 9:30 p.m. on July 28, 2026, an Indiana State Police (ISP) officer pulled over a commercial semi-truck on I-69 in DeKalb County, south of Auburn.
The ISP stated that the traffic stop occurred after the officer observed that the truck “was speeding and making dangerous lane changes. The vehicle was veering into the other lane and changing lanes without signaling, posing a danger to other drivers.”
During the traffic stop, the officer spoke with the truck’s driver, Brendan Lewis, a 26-year-old resident of Texas.
A “lawful search” of the cab revealed “what appeared to be burnt marijuana and a large quantity of packaged marijuana inside the cab.”
The ISP arrested Lewis on the following charges, among others:
- Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol – Endangerment: Class A misdemeanor
- Possession of controlled substances: Class B misdemeanor
- Driving under the influence of alcohol: Class C misdemeanor
- Driving with controlled substances in the system: Class C misdemeanor
“The Indiana State Police emphasizes that, no matter how trivial the possession or use of marijuana may seem to some people, it is always illegal to drive under the influence of substances. This incident is particularly alarming given that the driver was operating a semi-truck, a vehicle capable of causing catastrophic damage in the event of an accident,” stated the Fort Wayne Division of the Indiana State Police (ISP) in a press release.
