A Connecticut man was sentenced to prison for a scheme to defraud Amazon out of millions by creating fake trucking companies and submitting invoices for trailer movements that were never completed.
On October 7, 2026, Pak Express Transport, LLC owner Ameer Nasir, 25, was sentenced to 24 months of imprisonment and three years of supervised release.
Nasir was also ordered to pay $3,547,090.93 in restitution.
Nasir pleaded guilty to wire fraud in March 2026. He was arrested in on May 8, 2025.
Officials say that Nasir defrauded Amazon of more than $3.5 million through a scheme involving Amazon Logistics, an Amazon subsidiary that contracts with motor carriers to transport empty trailers and loaded trailers between cities and between warehouses and fulfillment centers operated by Amazon.
According to the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of Connecticut, Nasir registered 23 trucking businesses with Amazon Logistics, including his own company as well as other companies “created under false names or by fraudulently using the names and identifying information of other trucking or transportation companies without the knowledge of the operators of those companies.”
Authorities say that between December 2019 and February 2021, Nasir used the companies to obtain “more than 1,000 transportation assignments,” but then manipulated information in the Amazon Logistics systems to make it appear that trailer movements had been completed when they had not. Nasir also submitted false invoices for the trailer movements that were not completed to Amazon, which were paid.
Nasir is required to report to prison on November 12, 2026. Until then, he is released on a $300,000 bond.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation with assistance from Amazon.
