    Commercial vehicle crackdown in Taos grounds 27 trucks and drivers

    The New Mexico State Police (NMSP) inspected more than 150 commercial vehicles during a recent operation in the Taos area.

    As part of an operation focused on “traffic safety and compliance with regulations by commercial vehicles,” the NMSP’s Commercial Vehicle Enforcement Division conducted saturation patrols and set up a temporary inspection checkpoint along a rural state highway.

    The key results of the operation in Taos are detailed below:

    • 153 commercial vehicle safety inspections
    • 20 vehicles taken off the road
    • 7 drivers suspended from driving
    • 62 citations issued to commercial vehicles
    • 58 citations for traffic violations
    • 4 citations for equipment deficiencies
    • 62 traffic control inspections
    • 100 heavy commercial vehicles
    • 5 overweight commercial vehicles were identified

    “The New Mexico State Police (NMSP) remains committed to ensuring safety on New Mexico’s roads through proactive enforcement and by making sure that commercial vehicles traveling through our state comply with required safety standards,” the officers stated.
