A homeless man who was unfamiliar with the braking system of a semi-truck was arrested on Sunday in Alabama while attempting to steal the vehicle.
The attempted theft took place on August 2 in Mobile, Alabama, at the Hudd Transportation facility on Carol Plantation Road, shortly after 3:15 p.m.
According to WKRG, a homeless man entered the premises and sneaked into the company’s office—where two semi-trailers were parked—before attempting to steal one of them. When he tried to drive away with the truck, he was unable to disengage the brake system and failed to leave the premises with the vehicle.
Police determined that the homeless man, 49-year-old David Dunn, had stolen items from the office and from at least one semi-truck before attempting to steal the Freightliner truck.
Dunn was arrested and charged with third-degree theft, trespassing, and attempted first-degree theft of property. He was taken to the Metro jail.
