Commercial driver arrested for DUI following near-miss at stop sign

    Published:

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) put the brakes on a truck driver for operating under the influence in the Modesto area.

According to a September 26 release from CHP’s Modesto Division, a commercial vehicle officer recently performed a traffic stop on a “big rig pulling doubles” after the driver failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign.

Troopers said that the driver “turned onto Crows Landing Road and caused traffic to abruptly stop to avoid a crash.”

During the traffic stop, the CHP officer observed signs of impairment and initiated a DUI investigation.

The driver of the commercial truck was arrested for DUI and the vehicle was towed from the scene.

“If you’re impaired, don’t drive, especially when operating a commercial vehicle. Your decisions can put countless lives at risk,” CHP said.
