A truck driver is awaiting his next hearing after shooting and choking a warehouse employee at a receiver in Florida late last month.
67-year-old truck driver David Crump is currently being held without bond in the Orange County, Florida jail for an incident at around noon on August 26th at a warehouse near Boice Pond Road.
According to CP24, Crump was scheduled to make a delivery at the warehouse, but arrived several hours late, and got into an argument with a warehouse employee. The argument soon escalated and ended with Crump shooting, choking, and threatening the warehouse employee.
A witness who filmed the incident says that the two men were arguing in the parking lot, and that Crump was holding a gun. “The suspect [Crump] first punched the victim. The victim then punched him back. At this time, the suspect shot the victim,” the affidavit describes. The victim later told police he was shot once in the arm.
“[In the witness’s video] Crump can be heard saying ‘I’ll kill you’ as he placed his hands around the victim’s neck,” the affidavit reads.
Crump then got into his semi truck, left the scene, and called his company. It is unclear what details Crump relayed to his employer, but the company was able to track his rig through GPS, which showed him heading into Georgia.
A police officer in Glynn County then “observed a vehicle matching information provided in a (be on the lookout) in reference to a shooting suspect from Orlando, Florida.” Crump was taken into custody and returned to Florida.
At a court appearance on Friday, September 4th, Crump was notified he would be appointed a public defender. His next hearing is scheduled for September 10th. He is charged with attempted second degree murder with a firearm.
