A truck driver who is illegally present in the U.S. was arrested on an outstanding warrant during a U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) operation at a weigh station in Pennsylvania.
On September 4, an ICE officer was conducting commercial vehicle inspections at a weigh station located in Newberry, Pennsylvania.
During the operation, driver Simranpal Singh presented his CDL to the ICE officer, who determined that he was an Indian national present in the U.S. illegally.
According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Singh had an active warrant out of the Middle District of Pennsylvania for wire fraud and wire fraud conspiracy.
Singh’s CDL was issued by the state of New York, DHS said.
Officials say Singh will remain in ICE custody until he is handed over to the U.S. Marshals Service. After the completion of the criminal case, ICE plans to resume custody and begin removal proceedings.
“This illegal alien not only had a CDL from the sanctuary state of New York, but he also had an outstanding warrant for wire fraud,” said DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin. “This is the result of the disastrous open-border policies of the Biden Administration and the sanctuary policies of Kathy Hochul’s New York. Thankfully, the brave men and women of ICE have taken this criminal off our roads, saving American lives. Sanctuary politicians must stop these reckless policies that put American lives in danger. DHS will never apologize for removing illegal aliens from our roadways and making America safe again.”
