A truck driver recorded a video of a security officer giving him advice at a rest stop in southeast Texas, just to prove that it had happened.
In the video, the trucker pulls into a rest stop in Baytown, Texas, and films himself talking to a security officer who was on the lookout for potential cargo thieves.
“This is what he told me I need when I’m in Texas at a rest stop,” says the driver in the video, whose accent seems to indicate he’s from somewhere much further north.
“Here in Texas, at this location, both the police and I recommend that you carry your gun with you, so that if anyone tries to steal something from your truck or trailer, you can shoot them,” says the security guard.
“Because this is considered your home,” the security guard continues. “Here in Texas, you’re protecting your home and your belongings, which are headed for your home. So, if anyone tries to pose a threat, shoot them.”
“Exactly,” says the truck driver. “I wish I had a gun with me.”
